The Sea Made This. Let's Keep It That Way

Sustainable Swimwear from Ibiza – A World Earth Day Perspective

At DEESSA, every piece of sustainable swimwear begins long before it becomes an Ibiza bikini. Before it touches the skin, before it meets the sun, it starts its life in the ocean — as something discarded, forgotten, and waiting to be reclaimed.

Where your Ibiza bikini begins

Before it becomes a bikini, it is a fishing net — abandoned, tangled, and slowly breaking down into the marine ecosystem. Our fabrics are created from regenerated nylon such as ECONYL®, recovered from sea floors and coastlines and transformed into high-quality material.

This is where sustainability meets design. Waste becomes something refined. The sea, in a way, gives back.

Each piece is then handmade in Ibiza, cut and sewn in small batches in our atelier. We produce only what is needed — avoiding overproduction and eliminating excess stock. This is our commitment to a more conscious form of luxury swimwear.

Why Ibiza shapes everything we create

Ibiza is more than a destination — it is the foundation of our identity. From pine forests that reach the cliffs, to hidden coves and crystalline waters, the island defines both our aesthetic and our responsibility.

Landmarks such as Es Vedrà and Tagomago stand as reminders of what must be protected. Yet Ibiza’s ecosystem faces growing pressure — from tourism, pollution, and fast fashion. As an Ibiza swimwear brand, we choose to create without contributing to that cycle.

What sustainable luxury swimwear really means

For us, sustainability is not a label — it is a practice. It means sourcing fabrics from responsible European mills, using natural materials such as hand-carved coconut rings, and incorporating details designed to last beyond a single season.

It means fair, transparent production within our Ibiza atelier, where every piece is made with care and intention.

It also means choosing not to produce more than we can sell responsibly.

Slow fashion, designed to endure

We believe slow fashion is not a compromise — it is the future of fashion. A future where artisan bikinis replace mass production, and where pieces are designed to be worn, kept, and remembered.

This World Earth Day, and every day, DEESSA stands for a more conscious approach to sustainable swimwear — one that begins in the sea and is finished by hand in Ibiza.

What You Can Do — Starting Today

Buy less, buy better

One piece made to last is worth ten that fall apart. Look at the stitching. Ask where it was made. Wear it until it earns its retirement.

Care for what you own

Hand wash in cold water. Dry in the shade. Microfibre loss in laundry is real — using a mesh laundry bag can reduce it significantly.

Share the ethos

The most powerful thing you can do is talk about it. Tell a friend why you chose what you chose. Normalise the question: where did this come from?

Choose experiences over things

Spend a morning picking up plastic on your local beach. Book the trip. Swim in the sea. The more you love a place, the harder you'll fight for it.
