About Deessa Ibiza

On Ibiza, Tanit was honoured as a guardian of life, femininity, and the natural rhythms of the island. Her presence symbolised strength without force, sensuality without excess, and beauty rooted in nature and ritual.

DEESSA Ibiza draws from this same spirit — creating pieces shaped by place, light, and the female form, designed not to follow trends, but to be worn with intention.

Made with love in Ibiza

DEESSA Ibiza by Elin Ritter is a sustainable slow-fashion collection shaped by the landscape, light, and history of Ibiza.

Inspired by the island’s ancient roots, the DEESSA symbol references Tanit — Carthaginian goddess of moon, dance, fertility, and creation. Each piece is designed to move effortlessly from beach to evening, celebrating feminine strength, individuality, and beauty worn with intention.

(DEESSA means “goddess” in the Eivissenc language.)

Meet the Founder

While studying fashion at Central Saint Martins, I never imagined I’d one day be designing bikinis for women around the world.

I started sketching designs from a young age, so fashion felt like a natural path. After graduating in 1996, I interned with Paul Smith in London and New York, worked with Boudicca, and later moved into styling for music videos and ads.

Eventually, I shifted into digital design, freelancing on exciting projects across London. But I never let go of my dream—my passion for creating garments was always there, waiting.

From London to Rio to Ibiza

After dancing in Rio’s iconic carnival, I began performing with a Brazilian Samba group in London and creating hand-beaded costumes for myself and friends.

Inspired by Brazilian swimwear and its intricate details, I became passionate about designing swimwear, resort wear, and accessories that empower women—whether on stage, at a festival, or a wedding—with a distinct Ibiza flair.

My focus remains on local production, using upcycled and recycled materials, and supporting a circular, eco-friendly fashion economy.
